Fifth and sixth win with shutouts - One game added to schedule

  Bellevue 6 Willard 0

The Bellevue 5th grade Redmen bested Willard Sunday by a score of 6-0 to finish undefeated in league play. Daniel Thatcher scored from seven yards out on a quarterback keeper (PAT failed) for the only score against a tough Thunderbolt team. The Bellevue defense played another outstanding game pitching their third shutout of the season. Maurice Barnhouse led the defense with 10 tackles, a forced fumble and an interception. Chase Gore stepped up with nine tackles while Tyler Henderson had six and the trio of Gabe Smythe, Logan Turner, and Joshua Lunsford each had four. Thomas Behnke and Austin Weider added two stops each. AJ Perry recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass for the young Redmen. Thatcher led the ground game with 44 yards on 14 carries with Smythe adding 24 yards on seven tries. Barnhouse ran six times for 15 yards and Kyle Geary rushed two times for seven yards.

The sixth grade Redmen also finished a perfect 6-0 in league play with a 22-0 shutout of Willard at BAF, their third shutout of the season. The Redmen defense only allowed 16 points on the season. Dylan Dewitt got the hosts on the board early with a 47 yard touchdown run. Jacob Strayer nailed the PAT kick for a 8-0 first quarter lead. Dewitt would then be on the receiving end of an 80 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Clay Fries for a 14-0 lead. Dillon Berkey would add the final score with a 49 yard interception return for a touchdown. Strayer's kick was good for a 22-0 lead at the half, and the defense made sure the score would hold up. Dewitt was the leading rusher with 73 yards on just four carries. He was also four of six passing for 33 yards. Clay Fries led the air attack with his 80 yard rocket to Dewitt. Grant Vickery had a nice 24 yard reception. Triston Snezek and Caleb Stockmaster each added receptions. Joe Marin had two carries for 12 yards, Nick "Disco" Diso also rushed two times for 12 yards and Thomas Pressler carried twice for 10 yards. Grant Seamon, Kade Chumley, Nathanan Sochko, and Cole Norman also carried for the Redmen. Brady Hansard led the defense with 11 tackles, five of those stops being behind the line of scrimmage. Clay Fries added five stops while Marin and Diso had four tackles each. Quinton Brimmer and Norman each tallied three tackles and Berkey, Vickery, Dylan McGough, Christian Harris and Snezek each added two. Caleb Stockmaster intercepted his 5th pass of the season.

Both young Redmen teams will conclude their season this Wednesday 10/15 at 6:00 p.m. against Clyde with their own version of “The Battle of Rt. 20”. The event will be held on Clyde's new field turf surface and will be played under the lights.
