5th Grade
Bellevue 22
Galion 0
Bellevue’s fifth grade Redmen displayed their continuing dominance once again, this week while on the road at Galion White. The team remains undefeated with one game left in the season. Maurice Barnhouse once again lit up the scoreboard early with a run of 46 yards for a touchdown. Seth Linder’s PAT kick gave Bellevue the 8-0 advantage. A Daniel Thatcher toss to Barnhouse accounted for the next score with Linder again good on the kick. The final score of the contest came when Barnhouse picked off a Galion pass and raced 75 yards to paydirt for the 22-0 victory.
Thatcher finished the day a perfect five for five throwing for 56 yards and a score. Tyler Henderson hauled in three of those tosses while Barnhouse gathered the others. Jared Hoy also caught a pass from quarterback Kyle Geary. The Redmen were again beneficiaries of a strong ground attack led by 71 yards from Barnhouse on just four carries. Thatcher added 39 yards on nine attempts and Gabe Smythe tallied 20 yards on three attempts.
The Redmen defense allowed a season low 19 yards on the day with Smythe leading the way with nine tackles. He also forced and recovered a Galion fumble. Linder added six tackles and the trio of Austin Weider, Logan Vannest, and Joshua Lunsford each recorded four. Logan Turner and Chase Gore each had three takedowns. Adding two tackles each were Chris Colvin, AJ Perry, Clayton Bowersock, Henderson, and Barnhouse. Adding single tallies were Thomas Behnke, Hoy, and Geary.
6th Grade
Bellevue 20
Shelby 8
The Bellevue 6th grade Redmen continue to pile up victories and remain unbeaten after five games, this time victimizing host Shelby by a score of 20-8. The young team found themselves on the short end of the score for the first time this season when Shelby put together a long drive capped by a 10 yard touchdown run and point after for the 8-0 lead. Bellevue battled back when quarterback Dylan Dewitt hit Thomas Pressler for a 65 yard scoring strike. Jacob Strayer nailed the extra point to knot the score 8-8. Bellevue would come right back with Clay Fries making a nice fingertip grab of a DeWitt pass for a score from 18 yards out. Bellevue's final score would come on a 48 yard Dewitt to Fries touchdown pass. Dewitt finished with 138 yards on four of 13 passing, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Fries led the receivers with 2 catches for 66 yards and the two scores. Pressler had 65 yards receiving and Triston Snezek added a reception good for seven yards. The ground game was spearheaded by Pressler with 32 yards. Dewitt rushed five times for 19 yards, Joe Marin added seven yards on four carries and Nathan Sochko carried once for three yards. The defense took on a strong running game as Shelby was able to grind out several long drives only to be snuffed out by an aggressive Bellevue bunch. The defensive line controlled their gaps allowing linebackers Brady Hansard and Joe Marin several opportunities. Hansard finished with 16 tackles (five solo) and a forced fumble. Marin was credited with 11 tackles and a fumble recovery. Nick Diso and Fries each had seven stops while Snezek had five tackles including a sack for a loss of eight yards. Dillion Berkey and Sochko each recorded 4 tackles and the trio of Brennan Hay, Dewitt, and Isaac Hartley had 3 stops each. Cordell Rohlf, Quinton Brimmer, Jake Chagolla, Cole Norman and Grant Vickery each came up with two tackles. Also adding to the strong defensive effort were Grant Seamon, Alex Fielder, and Kade Chumley, each with a stop. Caleb Stockmaster intercepted a Shelby pass, his fourth theft of the season.
Both Redmen teams look to close out the season with a victory on Sunday when they host Willard at BAF. They’d like to see a big crowd stop out to witness their accomplishments. Fifth grade game begins at 2:00 followed by the sixth grade at 3:30. Admission is free and concessions will be available. This will be your final opportunity to buy a ticket for the season cash raffle with winners of $400, $200, and $100 being announced at halftime.
