Bellevue had their final scrimmage Friday night in preparation for next Friday’s season opener with the Perkins Pirates. The Redmen scored their first four times they had the football while at the same time shutting down the Redskins offense by not allowing them past mid-field. Bellevue renews play against the Perkins Pirates who have not played the Redmen since the 1993 season with Bellevue holding a 16-7-1 series record.

The Bellevue Redmen came into their annual rivalry game with the Clyde Fliers with redemption on their minds after suffering a 49-21 loss last year in Clyde. Bellevue wasted little time getting out to a quick 16-0 lead and the defense was outstanding intercepting the reigning Division III offensive player of the year five times and forcing three fumbles. The 36-20 win extended the Redmen’s dominance over the Fliers at Bellevue Athletic Field dating back to 1994 and increased their all-time series record to 25-9-3 verse their route 20 rival.
