Bellevue, OH- The Bellevue Redmen rolled to their second straight win Friday night in a 47-13 drumming of the Norwalk Truckers. The Redmen offense was equally as dominate running the football as they were throwing it.

First year starters, quarterback Jeff DeBlase, running back Anthony Flores and receiver Derrick Berberick, who also sees action at tailback, all set career highs in passing, rushing and receiving yardage.

The Bellevue offense wowed the home crowd with an unofficial 474 yards total offense in the 107th meeting between the two schools.

Senior tailback Anthony Flores went to work quickly rumbling 47-yards on the second play from scrimmage down to the Trucker 15-yardline. The offense however stalled on 4th and goal from the 5 and turned the ball over on downs to the Truckers.

Norwalk opened with a nice drive of their own, moving to the Bellevue 28 before senior defensive-back David Foos intercepted the Kyle Kurtz pass and returned it 49-yards to the Trucker 48-yardline. Six plays later Flores took it in from 1-yard out for Bellevue's first score. The Nate Thompson kick was good and with 2:19 remaining in the opening quarter it was Bellevue 7 and Norwalk 0.

Bellevue scored two possessions later as Derrick Berberick raced into the endzone for a 21-yard touchdown run. Foos caught the 2-point conversion and with 6:54 remaining in the second quarter the Bellevue lead grew to 15-0.

The Redmen continued to roll on their next offensive series with Flores rushing for 39-yards on 2 carries including a 2-yard touchdown run. The PAT kick was wide right but with 4:59 on the clock, second quarter, it was 21-0 Redmen.

The Bellevue defense shut down the Trucker offense for the second straight series forcing them to punt after going three and out. After a false start on the Bellevue offense senior co-captain Tim Keegan ran 38-yards down the Bellevue sidelines after hauling in the DeBlase pass for Bellevue's fourth score of the evening. The 2-point attempt failed with the score 27-0 Bellevue at the 3:40 mark of the second quarter.

The Truckers went 63-yards on 9 plays for the Truckers only score verse the starting Redmen defense. Kyle Kurtz 15-yard touchdown pass to senior Brandon Kurtz got the Truckers on the board. The point after was good with the score at 27-7 and 1:03 remaining until the half.

Bellevue started with excellent field position after a short Norwalk kick while taking over at the Trucker 44-yardline. Time expired in the half with the Redmen knocking on the door of the endzone as Jeff DeBlase was sacked to end the half.

After another three and out by the Truckers to begin the third quarter the Redmen marched right down the field to the trucker 5. DeBlase slipped on 4th and goal on a rollout pass and went down as the drive stalled.

The heart of the young Redmen defense was put to full test on the following Norwalk series. Kyle Kurtz on a quarterback option went 74 yards down to the Bellevue 3-yardline before being caught from behind by Berberick. Kurtz had apparently fumbled the ball out of the endzone for a touchback but the official ruled him down before the fumble. The stingy Redmen defense held on all four downs to keep the Truckers out of the endzone as the Redmen took over on their own 1-yardline.

DeBlase hooked up with Berberick on a beautiful 99-yard catch and run for another Redmen score. The extra point kick was good and with 2:03 remaining in the third it was 34-7 Bellevue.

The Redmen quickly returned to offense after Anthony Flores blitzed from his linebacker position causing Kurtz to fumble on the sack. Joe Neill recovered giving the Redmen the ball on the Trucker 20. Two plays later it was Berberick again taking it in from 15-yards out on a flanker screen. The PAT failed as the Redmen were on top 40-7 with 1:03 left in the third.

Bellevue scored their final points of the game on their following possession after not punting the ball away on their first eleven offensive series. After a 26-yard run by Berberick, DeBlase hit senior wide-out Travis Brown in the endzone for the score. Thompson's kick was good and with 10:04 remaining in the contest Bellevue held a 47-7 advantage.

Bellevue brought in the junior varsity defense with 9:49 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Truckers starting offense tacked on a late touchdown to end the scoring with the eventual final of 47-13 Bellevue over Norwalk.

The Redmen host Galion (1-4) on homecoming night next Friday while the Truckers return home to host the 1-4 Upper Sandusky Rams.
